Behind the Lens
Meet Bob Dignan
Owner & Photographer
You already know me. I’m that kid from high school who was too small for the football team but found other places to make my mark (while trying to avoid ending up in somebody’s locker). I first picked up a camera in the early 1980’s, and was hooked when I saw my work published in a small-town newspaper in Central Minnesota. Over the last four decades, I’ve had the opportunity to focus my lenses on many different subjects and events around the world. For me, photography has always been a gateway to finding a little bit of sanity in a crazy world.
Along the way, I got sidetracked and took a slightly different course. I had the great pleasure of working for the best bicycle company in the world, and the lessons they taught me about hard work, taking a long-term view, recognizing real success through the success of others, and caring for customers made an indelible mark. These basic business philosophies later guided me through two decades in the world of investments and financial planning. I built a group of clients, whom I still call friends, and founded two firms that exceeded my wildest expectations.
After selling my firm, I tried to play the role of a no-nonsense, corporate type, but ultimately discovered that isn't me. I wasn't willing to compromise and play that game in a quest for the almighty dollar, and it became clear that I was the square peg in a round hole. At the end of the day, I'm a small-town guy who believes in a particular way of doing things and treating people. I love being out in the world, and enjoy the privilege of getting to know people and develop an understanding what is important to them. Once you determine what makes people tick, capturing and memorializing that in a single perfect image gives a sense of satisfaction that is indescribable. This is my calling, and when you have an opportunity to start with a clean slate and follow your passion, you take it. You’ll see that passion come through in every image that I capture.
So, now I’m the guy with the office above the coffee shop who wants nothing more than to make you smile from ear-to-ear, as you see yourself through my lens. Are you ready to tell you your story? I sure hope so, because I am.
